I decided my sixties could use a little more drama. Literally.
I'm back at the University of Georgia studying theater! I was talked out of that major when I was at UGA at the age of 17, but I never let go of the dream.
When I was diagnosed with breast cancer on my 60th birthday, I took a deep breath and promised myself I was going to pursue the life I always wanted. So at an age when most people are thinking about slowing down, I'm adding homework and auditions to my life.
The fun began when I stopped overthinking every decision, waiting for the perfect moment, and talking myself out of things before I even tried. Turns out, life gets more amazing when you start saying yes, taking chances, and actually living instead of just thinking about living.
Family, acting, a boarding pass with my name on it, a fun outfit, a clever find, and butter pecan ice cream..these are a few of my favorite things. Bonus points for anything that makes an ordinary day feel a lot more interesting. I'm sharing what I'm trying, what I'm loving, what I'm learning, and what absolutely does not go according to plan...because it's so much more fun when you stop waiting for life to be perfect and just jump in.
